A strained quadriceps is a tear in one or more of the quadriceps muscles (Vastus Medialis, Vastus Intermedius, Vastus Lateralis, Rectus Femoris). It often results from repetitive overuse, overload of the muscles or trying to move the muscles too fast. Injuries may range from small micro tears to a complete rupture of the muscle. Conservative chiropractic care, NMR and rehabilitative exercises resolve the majority of these injuries, but in severe cases, referral to an orthopedist may be necessary.
